Corinthians in talks to sign Colombian defender for the 2026 season

Corinthians remains attentive to the market at the start of the pre-season and is evaluating names to strengthen the women's squad in 2026. One of the club's targets is the defender Kelly Caicedo, 23 years old, who has spent the last two seasons playing for Deportivo Cali, Colombia.

The negotiation was initially reported by União Corinthians Feminino, which uncovered the club's interest in the defender. Besides Corinthians, Kelly Caicedo has received inquiries from other teams, including Flamengo, Pachuca from Mexico, and other international clubs.

Colombian press outlets indicate that the current scenario is favorable for Timão. According to information from Tribuna Total and journalist Camilo Arias, the player officially bid farewell to Deportivo Cali on social media, a step that precedes the decision of her next destination, to play for Corinthians.

Trained in the initial categories of América de Cali, Kelly Caicedo joined Deportivo Cali in 2020 and built much of her career in Colombian football. Throughout her career, she also had international stints, such as with Alianza Lima, Peru. In 2023, she played in Brazilian football defending Cruzeiro, where she shared the squad with players who have previously played for Corinthians, such as Kemelli and Byanca Brasil.

In her most recent period at Deportivo Cali, the defender was a teammate of midfielder Paola García, who has already been announced as a reinforcement for Corinthians for the next season.

Despite her age, Kelly Caicedo has gathered experience in national and international competitions. The defender has won three editions of the Colombian Championship and was part of Colombia's youth teams in tournaments such as the U-17 and U-20 World Cups, in addition to having been called up to the main national team.

The athlete was also in the spotlight in the Women's Libertadores final, where she faced Corinthians. In the match, she participated in the defensive strategy that held a goalless draw in regular time. The title ultimately went to the São Paulo club after a penalty shootout.

The first commitment of the Brabas in 2026 is scheduled for January 28, at 9:30 AM (Brasília time), against Gotham FC, at Gtech Community Stadium, in London, England, for the Champions Cup.
