Corinthians players help Brazil futsal team lift Copa do Brasil trophy

Throughout last Sunday (16), the Brazilian Futsal Team won the North Zone title of the Conmebol Liga Evolución at the Caracas Gymnasium in Venezuela. In the competition, three athletes from the Corinthians Under-20 team represented the Brazilian team: the defender Mineiro, the winger Igor Bredof, and the pivot Andrey, who scored six goals in the tournament and finished as the top scorer.

In the Conmebol Liga Evolución final, Corinthians will face Argentina – the winner of the South Zone -, with details to be defined by Conmebol. The Brazilian team has already won the tournament six times. The competition consists of main teams and some Under-20 athletes.

In the professional team, the Brazilian Futsal Team called up only Under-23 athletes, but without the presence of any Corinthians players. The Brazilian Futsal Team began its campaign for the North Zone title of the tournament by defeating Ecuador 6-1, using the Under-20 team. Then, they beat Colombia twice 6-0 with the youth players and, with the main squad, by a score of 4-2.

In the third round, with the participation of the Corinthians trio, the Brazilian Under-20 athletes defeated Peru 9-0. Meanwhile, the older players triumphed 5-1 against the Peruvians. The last two games, which secured the trophy, ended with two victories over Venezuela with scores of 5-2 (Under-20 team) and 6-3 (main squad).
