Corinthians have proposed clearing the Neo Química Arena debt by handing Caixa Econômica Federal the stadium’s naming rights, with the bank’s board expected to discuss the plan.
According to Globo.com, president Osmar Stabile and directors Pedro Soares and Rafael Castilho met executives in Brasília last week. The debt to Caixa is R$ 630 million from R$ 2.8 billion overall.
Corinthians want Caixa to take the name from Hypera Pharma. They value the rights at about R$ 70 million a season, versus roughly R$ 15 million a year since 2020.
The package also proposes moving all banking and payroll to Caixa, issuing capitalisation bonds, and Fiel Torcedor cards. With a price and term agreed, the naming rights could offset the debt.
The club asked for R$ 27 million held in a reserve account under a 2022 deal to be returned and hopes to pause upcoming payments during talks.
The push comes amid a severe cash crunch the board links to Arena financing. Elections are on 28 November, and Stabile intends to run for re-election.
If talks advance, Hypera could be offered naming rights at other sites, such as CT Joaquim Grava. Since 2014 the club has paid about R$ 600 million.
A 2041 deadline was set under Duilio Monteiro Alves, with amortisations rising from 2025 and interest from 2023 at 2% plus CDI. Principal reduction began in 2025.
