Corinthians sign contract extension with Under-17 defender

Corinthians has signed a contract addendum with defender Pedro Paulo, 17 years old. The information was released by Meu Timão and confirmed by Central do Timão. According to the portal, the domestic release clause jumped to R$ 20 million and, for foreign clubs, increased from 30 to 50 million euros (R$ 308 million), with the contract duration maintained until March 25, 2027.

Corinthians has been reviewing the contracts of several youth academy players after the Kauê Furquim case, in mid-August. Since then, aiming to protect itself from the interest of other clubs—whether from Brazil or even abroad—the Alvinegro has been reformulating the contracts of athletes with greater future potential.

It is worth noting that defender Pedro Paulo is recovering from surgery on the cruciate ligament of his right knee, performed in June. According to Meu Timão, the athlete is expected to return to play only in May 2026, meaning he will miss the São Paulo Junior Football Cup, which takes place every January.

Starting next season, the defender will join the Under-20 team. In total, he has played 29 matches for Corinthians' Under-17 category, with 12 in 2025. Overall, there have been 19 wins, six draws, and four losses, with four goals scored and a 72% success rate.

Currently, the Corinthians youth academy is managed by general director Carlos Roberto Aurrichio, known as Nenê do Posto, and the recently hired executive, Erasmo Darmiani.
