Coritiba have confirmed the signing of right-back JP Chermont on loan from Santos, the 20-year-old joining until the end of the year.
The move addresses an immediate need at right-back, with only Tinga and teenager Felipe Guimarães available. According to Globo.com, there is no purchase option and a showcase clause requires Coritiba to release him immediately if a concrete European offer arrives.
In return for that risk, Coritiba secured 20% of any future sale completed by Santos, providing potential income from a later transfer.
Santos recently held talks with Ajax, who signalled a proposal of four million euros, approximately R$24.8 million, but the board stood firm on a minimum of six million euros, about R$37.2 million. Those terms stalled progress and opened the door to the loan.
Chermont is aiming to rediscover the form that made him a starter for much of the 2024 Série B. He lost ground last year and briefly dropped back to the academy, then began 2026 with Santos at the Copa São Paulo de Futebol Júnior.
Coritiba now have 14 signings for 2026, having already added Tinga, Felipe Jonatan, centre-back Thiago Santos, midfielders Ararat, Fernando Sobral, Willian Oliveira and Gustavo, plus forwards Breno Lopes, Enzo Vagner, Fabinho, Keno, Lavega and Pedro Rocha.
