According to Diario Do Peixe, there is no purchase option in the deal, Santos can recall him at any time, and a clause obliges the club to sell if a mid-year offer arrives.
København of Denmark and Ajax of the Netherlands recently proposed loans with a 3 million euros option to buy, which Santos rejected. Ajax also offered 4 million euros for a permanent transfer, and president Marcelo Teixeira is said to have told representatives he would only agree to a higher fee.
Chelsea made a 6 million euros bid last year, but Santos were holding out for 10 million, so talks did not progress. With opportunities limited, the board moved to send the defender to the Paraná side on loan.
Chermont featured in the Copinha at the start of the year. For the first team he was named in only three matchday squads, against Bragantino and Noroeste in the Paulistão and Chapecoense in the Brasileiro.
Head coach Juan Pablo Vojvoda informed him he was behind Igor Vinicius and Mayke in the pecking order and would have to wait his chance. Santos signed midfielder Gabriel Menino a month ago, and he can also cover at right-back. Chermont’s contract runs until the end of 2027.
