Cristian Rivero has been banned for three matches after his red card in the last league game against Getafe. He was dismissed for time-wasting.

According to Superdeporte, the committee’s official report recorded that he threw a ball on to the pitch from the bench, which brought the suspension. The decision initially caused confusion, with some thinking substitute Hugo Duro had been dismissed, before it was clarified that Rivero was the offender.

Even though Rivero has not played this season, it is a blow for Carlos Corberán, who now has little margin in goal. Julen Agirrezabala is sidelined with a hamstring problem and is expected to miss four to six weeks.

Stole Dimitrievski will continue as starter, now without his theoretical deputy Rivero.

The back-up role passes to Vicent Abril of Valencia Mestalla, a young goalkeeper the club rates highly.
