Cruzeiro agree loan for Matías Viña from Flamengo with no fee | OneFootball

Cruzeiro have agreed a deal to sign Matías Viña from Flamengo on loan until the end of 2026, and he is expected to be announced in the coming hours after terminating his spell at River Plate.

According to Globo.com, the move accelerated late in the window after Cruzeiro registered interest. Short of minutes at River Plate, Viña accepted the offer and will compete with Villalba and Gabriel Rojas for the left-back spot.

Cruzeiro will not owe any additional compensation to Flamengo at this stage, and are now racing to formalise the agreement before the transfer window shuts on Friday.

Viña had been on loan at River until the end of 2026, after which he would have returned to Flamengo, who hold his contract through 2028.

River had sought to return the player to the Rio club for some time, but the plan was hindered by a requirement to continue paying his wages until the end of the loan.
