Cuiabá president Cristiano Dresch has urged points deductions for Brazilian clubs who default on debts, singling out Santos and Vasco after the CNRD ordered Santos to pay R$ 18,616,377.46.

“This problem exists because our market has no regulation and no punishment. Transfer bans are proving insufficient, we need points deductions,” he told ESPN.

The sum concerns Joaquim’s 2023 transfer and a related sell-on. Only the first of five renegotiated instalments has been paid, after the original agreement’s final tranche fell due in January 2025.
