Leeds United are back in Premier League action on Sunday, making the trip up to the Stadium of Light to face Sunderland following a short break over Christmas.

The Whites are coming in off the back of a dominant 4-1 victory over Crystal Palace on home soil, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin hitting the back of the net twice to continue his fine run of goalscoring form.

Ahead of the visit to Wearside, Daniel Farke has issued an update on his squad’s fitness, initially conceding that the clash comes too soon for absentee Sean Longstaff.

“No, no chance for Sean,” the boss began as he addressed the media at Thorp Arch. “Also not obviously for Daniel James.

“It is a small chance for Lukas Nmecha to be involved, so there is some progress. I hope I have him at some point during this week, also back in team training.

“If he comes through the sessions, then he could definitely be a topic for the squad and he could travel with us.

“But he is more or less the only one from the long-term injuries who could perhaps feature in this game.”
