Chelsea midfielder Dário Essugo has joined Ligue 1 side Strasbourg on a season-long loan for the 2026/27 campaign.
The 21-year-old arrived at Stamford Bridge from Sporting CP in June 2025 but has struggled for regular minutes, making just eight competitive appearances for the Blues and registering two assists.
Essugo also featured three times during Chelsea’s FIFA Club World Cup-winning campaign last summer, but injuries and competition within the squad have limited his opportunities.
The Portugal Under-21 international will now look to gain valuable first-team experience in France after previously spending the 2024/25 season on loan at Las Palmas.
His move to Strasbourg continues the close relationship between the two clubs, who are part of the same investment group. Several Chelsea players have recently joined the French side, including Filip Jørgensen, who is also spending the season on loan there.
Essugo was initially expected to join Hull City, but that deal collapsed before Chelsea agreed his switch to Strasbourg.
