DC United ‘to sign’ Silvan Hefti from HSV

Silvan Hefti is expected to leave Hamburger SV this winter, with a move to MLS side DC United said to be close. Hamburger Abendblatt reports the Swiss right-back is set for an exit, while journalist Steven Goff says a transfer is nearing completion.

Under coach Merlin Polzin, he has not featured for the first team this season.

He has made only one outing for HSV's reserves in the Regionalliga Nord, and his contract runs until the summer of 2028.

The report added that HSV would receive a small transfer fee, which would be reinvested in a severance package to offset a lower salary in the United States.

Last season, Hefti played 19 second-division matches, scoring one and providing one assist as HSV secured promotion to the Bundesliga.
