Sebastiaan Bornauw has officially joined Hamburger SV on loan from Leeds United for the 2026/27 season.
The Bundesliga club confirmed the arrival of the Belgian centre-back on Wednesday.
“Sebastiaan already knows the Bundesliga from his previous clubs and brings a special work ethic with him. He is someone who demonstrates discipline and professionalism every day, while also standing for team spirit, character and communication," said HSV managing director for sport Kathleen Krüger of the former VfL Wolfsburg and 1. FC Köln player.
“With his personality, he is a great asset to any dressing room and therefore fits perfectly into our squad. He is expected to take on a leadership role within the team and use his coaching ability to make his teammates even better. We are convinced that he will quickly make an impact here, and we warmly welcome Sebastiaan.”
Bornauw, who left Wolfsburg to join Leeds last summer, is pleased to return to the Bundesliga.
“I was convinced from the very first moment during the talks with HSV because I felt the trust of the people in charge. I’m really happy to be here. I like the emotions that surround a traditional club like HSV. That gives me a lot of energy as a player. The fans can look forward to me always giving everything for my team,” said Bornauw.
