Sunday’s penultimate round in LaLiga Hypermotion delivered a dramatic shake-up. According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, Deportivo de La Coruña clinched a top-flight return after eight years with a 2-0 win at Valladolid, while Real Zaragoza’s 1-1 draw at Las Palmas sealed their drop. CD Castellón won 1-0 at Huesca through Ousmane Camara and now control their play-off fate.
The night belonged to 21-year-old Nsongo Bil, whose brace in Valladolid crowned his rapid rise. Signed from Canon Yaoundé in summer 2024, the Cameroonian has scored six in the last 14 rounds and earned Antonio Hidalgo’s trust as an undisputed starter.
Almería’s bid for automatic promotion ended with a 3-1 defeat at Sporting Gijón, where Juan Otero struck twice and the hosts led 2-0 inside 20 minutes. Rubi’s side now need a faultless finale against Valladolid to avoid missing out on the play-offs altogether.
Six teams remain in contention for four play-off places, Almería, Málaga, Las Palmas, Castellón, Burgos and even Eibar. Castellón host Eibar in a winner-takes-all feel at SkyFi Castalia, Málaga visit relegated Zaragoza, and Las Palmas head to a celebratory Riazor. Burgos stayed alive with a 2-0 victory at Cultural Leonesa, David González scoring both.
The relegation fight brings a decider at Butarque, with Leganés needing only a draw after a 3-0 loss at Cádiz, who secured safety. Mirandés must win, having extended their survival bid by beating Granada 3-1 thanks to two from Unax del Cura.
Huesca and Cultural Leonesa also fell to Primera RFEF ahead of the final day.
