Sky Blues may need to move on one of their left-backs this summer.
Derby County are interested in signing Jake Bidwell from Coventry City, who may be willing to let him leave the club this summer.
John Eustace's penchant for players with second tier experience combined with Frank Lampard's logjam at left-back may be a transfer match made in heaven.
The Sky Blues brought in Miguel Angel Brau - a third left-sided defender - earlier this summer from Granada. There's only one of these spots available in the former Chelsea midfielder's side, so a tough decision may be coming down the line for Lampard.
MailSport have reported that one of Bidwell or Jay Dasilva is likely to depart the CSB Arena this summer because of the signing of the Spaniard. The latter was often the first-choice left-back in the closing stages of last season, with the former usually serving as a bench option, as was the case in the play-offs.
The 32-year-old only signed a new deal with Coventry in January.
That's set to keep him around until the summer of 2027, but, of the two potentially departing players, he is the one that is attracting interest.
Eustace is close to bringing in another left-back in the form of Liverpool loanee Owen Beck. The pair worked together at Blackburn Rovers last term before the boss was snapped up to help the Rams with their relegation battle.
Beck appears to have chosen Derby amid some interest from other clubs out of a desire to work with the 45-year-old again.
Coventry may also be open to selling someone on the opposite flank of their backline too. With Milan van Ewijk attracting Premier League interest, and Kaine Kesler-Hayden potentially waiting in the wings to take over his starting position, a £15 million price tag has been placed on the Dutchman, according to MailSport.
Like Brau, the signing of the Aston Villa academy product for £3.5 million could spell movement for one of his new Coventry counterparts. The only difference is that on the right-side there are just two people competing for a spot in Lampard's first XI.
Coventry are a club that are certainly looking up, looking ahead to a future that they hope will involve some form of spell in the Premier League in the near future.
At 32, and without a current starring role in the City squad, Bidwell is unlikely to be a key cog in Lampard's plans going forward.
If Derby are willing to put in a decent offer for the defender, which they will have to do because of his new contract, they should definitely be open to moving him on this summer.
