Diego López has become the first Valencia first-team player to publicly say goodbye to Carlos Corberán, posting a message on social media after the coach’s departure. He lamented that the work done during this period did not receive the reward expected.

According to Superdeporte, Corberán returned to Paterna on Monday morning, already out of his post, to say his farewells in person before leaving the Ciudad Deportiva.

López addressed his message to the coach who had led him for the past three seasons, although he did not feature last season because of a serious injury.

He is the first, and so far the only, senior player to make that farewell public.

The squad now enters a different phase under interim coach Óscar Sánchez, while Corberán draws a line under his Valencia stint after his final visit to Paterna.
