With Braulio Vázquez moving to finalise Valencia’s next head coach amid a delicate spell, reserve boss Óscar Sánchez has taken interim charge and will try to take points at Mendizorroza that could be decisive by season’s end.

According to Superdeporte, the Murcian has a brief window in the elite and is a well-schooled academy coach, noted for his energy and tactical problem solving.

Since arriving in Paterna he has delivered two standout feats, most recently reviving a near-doomed Valencia Mestalla with a bold plan. He also led the Juvenil División de Honor to the Copa de Campeones final after eliminating Real Madrid and Barcelona, both Youth League sides.

That team played with relentless dynamism, ferocious attacking intent and marked verticality, and adapted to both fast attacks and more patient build-up. It drew big returns from talents such as Aimar Blázquez and David Otorbi.

Sánchez used right-back Miguel Monferrer infield during build-up, freeing the entire flank for the winger in possession and creating constant overloads. He prefers a back four with a double pivot and a link to the striker, adjusting full-backs and wingers to their traits.

After retiring he assisted at Real Murcia with José Manuel Aira, then Vicente Mir, and later worked at Elche, FC Sochaux, Cultural Leonesa and Marbella. His head-coach breakthrough came at Orihuela, winning Group VI of Tercera Federación and earning direct promotion to Segunda Federación in 2022/23, before joining Valencia in 2024 to lead Juvenil A.
