The move is close to completion, with the player set to remain in Serie B until the end of the season.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, sporting director Piero Ausilio moved quickly to beat competition from Fiorentina and convince Modena with an offer worth around €5 million plus bonuses.

The Nerazzurri see Massolin as a long-term investment rather than an immediate first-team addition.

The 23-year-old, originally from Martinique, joined Modena last summer from Belgian second-division side Franc Borains for just €900,000.

His rapid development in Italy has significantly increased his value and attracted attention from several clubs.

Massolin will stay at Modena until June to continue playing regularly.

So far this season he has made 13 Serie B appearances and scored once, netting a dramatic equaliser away to league leaders Frosinone in a 2-2 draw.

His potential had already been noted earlier in his career.

Massolin made his Ligue 1 debut with Clermont Foot during the 2022-23 campaign before moving abroad.

Now, after a strong spell in Italy’s second tier, his career appears to be taking another step forward.

For Inter, the deal reflects a strategy of investing in emerging talent while planning carefully for the future structure of the squad.
