Douglas Aurélio enters a pivotal campaign for his future at CD Castellón, now into the final year of a deal that runs to 30 June 2027. After two injury-hit seasons, the Brazilian winger is aiming to regain rhythm and relevance.
El Periódico Mediterráneo notes that he arrived at Castalia as a difference-maker, direct and powerful from either flank. He has played 48 games and scored 10 goals for Castellón, yet long layoffs have blunted his impact.
An anterior cruciate ligament rupture in his left knee in February 2025 sidelined him for the decisive run-in, around 14 matchdays.
In 2025/2026 he managed only three outings and 41 minutes. He still converted a penalty against Real Sociedad B at the SkyFi Castalia, then suffered a meniscal injury in the same knee. After that, only a couple of brief cameos.
In all he missed more than 50 matches, a heavy absence for a forward expected to add unpredictability, goals and depth. Castellón need his best version back when he is healthy. For Douglas, the challenge is to prove he still fits the project and that injuries have not closed his chapter at the SkyFi Castalia.
