Elye Wahi rejects Hull City in order to prioritise OGC Nice return

Elye Wahi (23) has rejected the chance to join newly-promoted Premier League side Hull City, as he favours a return to OGC Nice, where he spent last season on loan from Eintracht Frankfurt, as per a report from L’Équipe.

Wahi spent the second half of last season on loan at Nice and his goals during that spell spared the club relegation to Ligue 2. That deal, due to Le Gym’s finances, did not include a buy option and so Wahi returned to Germany. However, the Ivory Coast international has now made a return to the Côte d’Azur a priority. Talks to secure his return are ongoing, albeit not simple, given Nice’s current inability to stump up a significant transfer fee. Current talks are around a loan deal that, this time, could include a buy option.

This move is Wahi’s absolute priority, to the extent that, as per L’Équipe, he rejected approaches from Hull City and Lazio.
