The week started off in a positive manner for Emma Lawton, who was once again named in the Scotland national team, and it finished with the defender scoring her first goal of the season for Celtic.

Speaking to Celtic TV, the right-back said: “I think it was one of our better performances over the last couple of weeks and we showed up for the entire 90 minutes.

"It was just really good to get those three points, moving into another big week coming up.

“The only slight negative of the day was that we did concede that goal, but I think we responded really well to it.

“We then went and got loads more goals after it. It’s always disappointing to concede but I think we’ll take a lot of positives from the game overall.

“We’ve maybe not put together a whole 90 minute in the last few weeks, so it was nice to do that and it just shows that we can do it. We have got the quality within the group.

“Hopefully we can take that level into next week and do the same again when we play Glasgow City.”

Scoring her first goal of the season against Motherwell takes Lawton’s overall tally in green and white to eight so far.

Now she is hopeful the team can carry that level of performance into their next match against Glasgow City this coming Sunday.

“It was nice to finally score a goal this season,” she said. “I’ve had a couple of chances that I probably should have scored.

‘So it’s nice to get off the mark and hopefully I can keep that going and get loads more.’

“Wwe scored a lot of different types of goals, with a lot of different goalscorers. That is something which is going to stand us in good stead this season.

“After last week’s performance, coming into this week, we knew we wanted to play well. We’ve done that, and now we’ll look to take that into the next week.”
