FC Bayern could make a move for a bench player in the winter transfer window, with a Premier League club apparently getting serious
There are growing signs that Sacha Boey could leave FC Bayern as early as this winter. While the right-back has hardly played a sporting role of late, the personnel issue is now receiving fresh impetus from England. According to the English newspaper The Standard, Crystal Palace are specifically interested in the Frenchman. Sources at the newspaper expect Boey to leave the record champions as early as January
According to the report, the Londoners want to tighten up their competition on the right-hand side of defence. Crystal Palace are actually focusing on the Colombian Daniel Muñoz, but Boey is also being closely examined
Just a few weeks ago, things had cooled down at Crystal Palace. At the time, it was said by those close to FC Bayern that Boey had fallen behind again in sporting terms and was barely able to present himself. This became a problem for potential buyers, as a player without regular playing time is difficult to assess – especially for a club that needs immediate reinforcements in a relegation battle. However, the situation now seems to have changed again and Crystal Palace are serious about Boey
He came to Munich from Galatasaray for around €30 million in January 2024, but was unable to make a lasting impact under either Thomas Tuchel or Vincent Kompany. The 25-year-old has made 14 competitive appearances this season, but mostly as a substitute or on rotation. He no longer plays a central role in Bayern’s long-term plans, which makes a winter transfer even more likely
Internally, Munich are open to a sale in principle. The aim is to further streamline the squad and at the same time refinance at least part of the transfer fee invested. A sum in the region of 10 to 15 million euros is currently considered realistic. Although this would mean a significant loss for FC Bayern, it could prevent Boey’s market value from falling even further due to further non-deployments

According to a report by SPORT1, Bayern are not planning a transfer in the winter, either on the incoming or outgoing side, but a suitable offer for Boey, who no longer plays any sporting role, would certainly give the bosses pause for thought
For Boey himself, a move to England would be a new opportunity. In Munich, he’s barely got beyond the role of benchwarmer, behind Konrad Laimer, Josip Stanisic and other options on the right flank. A change of scenery could give him the regular match practice he currently lacks at FC Bayern.
