Sekhukhune United head coach has reiterated the club's target in the ongoing 2025/26 Betway Premiership campaign.
Babina Noko suffered a defeat at the hands of defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns in their last league outing over the weekend.
The Limpopo club, however, remains third, having accumulated 32 points in 19 league outings, with games coming thick and fast.
When quizzed on whether the defeat to Sundowns dashed his team's chances of mounting a title charge, Tinkler dismissed the suggestions, stating their objective is a top three finish.
“No different to what I said right at the beginning of the season. Our target and objective is top three. You [media] are the guys who are talking about leagues. I'm talking about top three, that's my mandate - top three,” said the Sekhukhune boss.
"If we won today [Sunday] would we be competing for the league? Yes, but my mandate hasn't changed - top three. And nothing says we can't now win the next two games and close that gap. But every single game we go into, we plan and prepare to win that game.
"I don't have the luxury of planning ahead and say I can get a point here maybe over there no points, and then over there three points, no. These three points today are important, why? Because our target is top three.
"The sooner we can create a gap between ourselves and everybody else in [the race] to reach top three, the better and that's what I said to the players today. I said we can open that gap between ourselves, Chiefs and AmaZulu by a result today. So, for me that continues - top three, that's the target, that's the objective.
Sekhukhune will swing back to action with a clash against an ambitious fourth-placed Durban City side at Chatsworth Stadium on Wednesday.
