Lyon forward Ernest Nuamah has been named in Ghana’s 28-player squad for the 2026 World Cup despite featuring for only 32 minutes this season.

According to Le Progres, Portuguese head coach Carlos Queiroz has included the 22-year-old in his group for the tournament in the United States, Canada and Mexico, which runs from 11 June to 19 July.

Nuamah returned after more than a year out following surgery on the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, making three late cameos against Rennes, Toulouse and Lens. That brief return was enough for a recall.

A highly rated talent, he has 18 caps and 4 goals for the Black Stars since the age of 19, though there are questions over how quickly he can regain full sharpness after such a long absence.

He is the fourth Lyon player called up for the 2026 World Cup, alongside Moussa Niakhaté of Senegal, Nicolas Tagliafico of Argentina and Pavel Sulc of the Czech Republic.
