The board at La Liga outfit Espanyol look set to imminently see their clever work behind the scenes on the transfer front rewarded.
This comes after star goalscorer Roberto Fernández was afforded a maiden senior call-up to the Spanish national team under Luis de la Fuente.
Frontman Fernández is for his part fresh off a stellar start to the new campaign, having found the net six times in six appearances in the colours of Espanyol.
These exploits culminated in the 24-year-old emerging as one of four new faces in the squad called upon by world champions Spain for an upcoming round of Nations League fixtures on Friday.
And in the case of Fernández, as expected, taking to the pitch even once across La Roja’s four outings, Espanyol will be afforded a welcome boost.
As per a report from Mundo Deportivo, citing Esports Cope, upon the former Braga man taking to the pitch for his country:
‘His release clause, currently set at 25 million euros, will rise to 30 million.’
This will mark an important development for those in a position of power at the RCDE Stadium, amid mounting interest in Fernández’s signature from across the continent.
