Former West Brom head coach Ryan Mason has been linked with the vacant Watford job after Ed Still's brief spell ended at the close of the season.

According to ExpressAndStar.com, bookmakers have Mason among the early contenders, alongside Garcia Pimienta, ex-Southampton chief Russell Martin, former Leicester boss Marti Cifuentes and departed Burnley manager Scott Parker.

Watford dispensed with Ed Still after only a handful of matches, the brother of Will, who briefly managed Southampton this season, endured a poor run to finish the campaign.

Mason took his first managerial post at Albion last summer after a lengthy coaching stint with Tottenham. He started strongly, then results tailed off and he was sacked in January following defeat to Leicester City.

Albion's poor away record proved decisive, bringing Mason's tenure to a close after 27 games. His successor, Eric Ramsay, left without a win in his nine matches in charge.

Mason may yet return to a Championship dugout next season.
