Max O’Leary has been recalled by Republic of Ireland after his strong finish at West Brom, earning a place on a Spanish training camp and Grenada friendly this month. According to ExpressAndStar.com, Heimir Hallgrímsson has included the 29-year-old goalkeeper in his squad.

O’Leary has one senior cap, a friendly against Luxembourg last June. His debut followed a run with Bristol City into the Championship play-offs. Ireland meet Grenada in Murcia on May 16, then Qatar on May 28 and Canada on June 6.

Baggies midfielder Jayson Molumby has also been selected in the 21-man party. He missed Albion’s final-day defeat at Sheffield Wednesday with a minor hamstring strain but has the chance to add to his 34 caps.

Out of contract at The Hawthorns at the end of his short-term deal, signed in late January, O’Leary made 17 appearances, 16 in the Championship. He kept eight clean sheets, including a run of six shutouts in seven as James Morrison’s side secured survival.

Albion are assessing their goalkeeping options, with the futures of O’Leary and academy product Josh Griffiths unresolved. Griffiths, 24, lost his starting spot to O’Leary. Third-choice Joe Wildsmith is on loan at Middlesbrough and is set to depart.

Ireland are aiming to put their World Cup qualification heartache behind them, with Molumby involved when they lost on penalties to Czechia.
