Rumarn Burrell joined Queens Park Rangers this summer from League One side Burton Albion

Queens Park Rangers completed signings of numerous attacking reinforcements this summer, but their move for League One Burton Albion's Rumarn Burrell may prove to be an underrated coup for the R's.

This summer, following the departure of former boss Marti Cifuentes, QPR moved for former Stade Rennes and Strasbourg manager Julien Stephan to become their new permanent head, which was confirmed in late June.

The 45-year-old Frenchman got his feet under the desk immediately ahead of what was a busy summer for the R's, who were targetting reinforcements in attacking areas this summer.

Koki Saito rejoined the club on a permanent basis after a loan spell in West London last season, despite strong interest from Derby County, whilst the likes of Richard Kone signed from Wycombe Wanderers, Kwame Poku from Peterborough, and Karamoko Dembele from Stade Brestois.

Among those signed to strengthen their attacking options was Burrell, who signed from Burton for around £1 million after hitting 11 goals and grabbing two assists in 30 matches in the English third tier.

Since switching from the Pirelli Stadium to Loftus Road this season, Burrell has appeared in all 11 of QPR's league games so far, starting seven and coming on as a substitute in the other four, presenting himself as a key figure in Stephan's squad.

He has also scored three times and assisted once as QPR sit in eighth, just outside the play-off places, level on points with each of Charlton Athletic, Stoke City, and Hull City, but with a slightly worse goal difference.

It's still early days, but Burrell has made the step-up to Championship football seem seamless, and at 24 years old, QPR may have snatched a bargain.

Speaking exclusively to Football League World, Sky Sports pundit Don Goodman has shared his views on the summer signing of Burrell from Burton Albion at QPR, and whether he could prove to have been a steal for the R's.

Goodman said, "I saw Rumarn Burrell live for the first time last weekend when I covered the Queens Park Rangers versus Millwall game, and he came on, he looked sharp, and he looked lively.

"[He] obviously got his goal, [he] missed a sitter at the end, which was disappointing for him and QPR considering they lost the game 2-1, but he put that behind him, which is impressive mental resilience, and he scored the winning goal in midweek.

"You can see the attributes he's got. I mean, he's rapid, he gets into goalscoring areas, looks a little bit raw, but in Julien Stephan, they have a coach at Queens Park Rangers who is very good at developing young talent.

"So you'd hope if he can knock the rough edges of Rumarn Burrell that he can score plenty of goals for Queens Park Rangers, and it would look like a bargain."

Julien Stephan has a proven track record for developing young players, and will be hoping to do similar with Rumarn Burrell

Having spent his entire playing and managerial career in France prior to his move to West London, Stephan has managed some of world football's global superstars and helped them develop into the players they are today.

Whilst at Rennes, the likes of Real Madrid's Eduardo Camavinga, PSG's Ballon d'Or winner Ousmane Dembele, Barcelona's Raphinha, and Manchester City's Jeremy Doku all worked under the watch of Stephan.

Developing attacking talent has been somewhat of the Frenchman's forte whilst in management, and with the array of attacking talent at his disposal at QPR, fans of the R's will have every reason to be excited to see if Stephan can work some of his magic.

Burrell will be no different, having played in the lower leagues of England with the likes of Grimsby Town and Bradford City, in Scotland with Falkirk and Cove Rangers, before his move back to England with Burton.

The four-time capped Jamaican international has ample time to refine his game and smooth out any rough edges he may possess, but he has all the physical attributes to become a top striker, and under Stephan, he has every chance of becoming just that.
