Bayer Leverkusen are closing on Facundo Medina as their second defensive addition of the summer, with an agreement in principle in place with Marseille, Sky Sports reports.

The report adds the fee will be €20 million for the World Cup finalist and that the 27-year-old will sign until 2031, subject to a medical in Leverkusen.

Medina only joined Marseille permanently this summer after an initial loan from RC Lens.

The Argentine can operate as a centre-back or left-back, a versatility underlined during the recently concluded World Cup.

Leverkusen have lost Alejandro Grimaldo to Atletico Madrid, but have already added Miguel Gutiérrez from Napoli. The left-back registered an assist for Patrik Schick on his debut against Sevilla today.
