The 27-year-old centre-back was part of Argentina’s squad that reached the World Cup semi-finals this summer.

He is expected to travel to Leverkusen once he returns from his post-tournament holiday, and is set to sign a contract until 2031.

Leverkusen have pursued Medina for several weeks. Their initial bid was rejected a few days ago, but a second, improved offer appears to have satisfied Marseille.
