Marseille have reached an agreement with Bayer Leverkusen to sell Facundo Medina for an initial €23m plus €2m in bonuses, L’Équipe reports.

The Argentina international has agreed personal terms and is expected to sign a contract of around five years after returning from holiday.

Leverkusen intensified their pursuit in recent days. An opening bid was rejected, but an improved offer was subsequently accepted.

The sale provides a significant financial boost as Marseille reshape their squad this summer. Medina only joined last year after establishing himself as one of Ligue 1’s most reliable defenders with Lens.

The 27-year-old’s expected exit marks another major change, with the Provence club also close to selling goalkeeper Gerónimo Rulli to Manchester City. He will travel to Germany after his holiday to complete final formalities.
