Celta Vigo have signalled interest in taking Fer Lopez back on loan, though their sporting director says a January move could be difficult after Wolves paid £19m in the summer.

According to ExpressAndStar.com, the 21-year-old is set for a January loan following a frustrating start to life at Molineux.

Lopez has made six substitute appearances and one Premier League start, with two starts in the EFL Cup. He came off the bench in the defeat at Arsenal on Saturday.

Last month head coach Claudio Giraldez was asked about a possible return, while club president Marian Mourinho said the forward would always be welcomed back.

New sporting director Marco Garcés said in a press conference that the Spanish side had already registered their interest, but stressed a deal next month may be hard to arrange. “We would love for him to return. He’s exactly the type of player we need. We’ve expressed our interest, but it seems difficult. They invested a significant amount of money, and it was very recently.”

“We have all 25 squad spots filled. If we can offload a couple of players, someone with Fer López’s profile, whether it’s him or another player, would be very interesting.”
