FIFA calendar change extends September break, October window scrapped | OneFootball

FIFA has scrapped the late October international window, stretching the early-season break to almost three weeks with extra fixtures in late September.

According to L'Équipe, the change is intended to reduce shuttling between clubs and national teams. Autumn windows drop from three to two, with the second falling in mid-November.

As a result, Zinédine Zidane’s France side will play four Nations League matches in this September window instead of two.

The first two are away, in Türkiye on Friday, then in Belgium next Monday.

Two home games follow at the Stade de France, Italy on 2 October and Belgium on 5 October.

France then visit Italy on 12 November before finishing the campaign on 15 November in Bordeaux against Türkiye.
