FIFA confirmed that Santos’ transfer ban has been lifted, publishing a decision that revokes the sanction and closes the case. The club no longer appears on the governing body's list of teams under transfer ban.

The payment was made on Thursday 27, aided by Neymar’s company NR Sports, which will have new uniform properties.

Santos are moving to register midfielder Arthur Melo with the CBF’s BID. An agreement to sign him is already in place.

To lift the sanction, Santos paid €2,032,876.71, around R$ 12 million, to Monaco for a debt from the July 2023 signing of midfielder Jean Lucas. The transfer had been agreed at US$ 6 million, but only the first two instalments were paid.

The first was in August that year and the second in June 2024, while the third and final instalment, due in January last year, went unpaid. The board sought a new payment plan, which Monaco rejected. In May 2025 the French club filed a case with FIFA, which ruled against Santos.

Santos appealed to CAS in an effort to delay payment, but the court upheld the ruling. The hearing on 20 May set a 40-day deadline, and when the debt was not cleared a ban was imposed on 1 July. Two months later, the club settled the amount.
