The knockout stage of the FIFA World Cup 2026 is fast approaching, with 13 spots in the Round of 32 still up for grabs.
USA were the first nation to advance as group winners, and they have since been joined by fellow co-hosts Mexico as well as Argentina, Brazil, Germany, Netherlands and Switzerland.
Canada, this summer’s other co-hosts, have lost home field advantage after finishing second in Group B. They also have the shortest turnaround of any side left in the competition, with their match against South Africa set for this Sunday in Los Angeles.
Australia, Ivory Coast, Japan, Morocco and South Africa are also through as group runners-up, while Colombia, Norway and France have also qualified with their final positions to be determined on Friday and Saturday.
Three third-placed teams already know they will be in the next round, including Ecuador who pulled off a shock come-from-behind victory over Germany on Thursday.
Bosnia & Herzegovina and Sweden have also made it through after finish third in their respective groups, while several nations face a nervy wait to see if they will progress.
Scotland are one such team hoping for a lot of favours, but their chances are decreasing with every match. The Tartan Army, who finished on three points with a -3 goal difference, are eighth in third-place table as it stands and could be overtaken by a number of teams.
Argentina, Brazil, Germany, Mexico, Netherlands, Switzerland, USA.
Australia, Canada, Ivory Coast, Japan, Morocco, South Africa.
South Korea (3)
Scotland (3)
Paraguay (4)
Egypt (4), Iran (2), Belgium (2), New Zealand (1).

There are any number of potential matchups that could fill out the bracket, but as it stands we will have: Portugal vs Ghana, Spain vs Austria, Argentina vs Uruguay, Australia vs Iran, and Ivory Coast vs Norway.
