Former Brighton and Hove Albion defender Tariq Lamptey is set to miss several months of action after suffering an isolated cruciate ligament tear during his full Fiorentina debut earlier this month, the club have confirmed.
Lamptey joined Fiorentina in a €6m deal from Brighton earlier this summer, but has only managed to appear for 25 minutes before picking up a major injury.
The Ghana international made a cameo appearance for Fiorentina in a 3-1 defeat against Napoli, and was then forced off after just 22 minutes of his full Viola debut in an eventual 2-1 loss against Como.

It has taken a while for Fiorentina to confirm the exact diagnosis of Lamptey’s injury. The club were aware that the right-back had an issue with his knee, but sent him for several rounds of medical tests to get to the bottom of the injury.
Fiorentina have since confirmed that Lamptey has suffered an isolated tear to the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his left knee, and that he has already undergone surgery to repair the damage.
According to updates from Sky Sport Italia, Lamptey is expected to miss around four months of action as a result of his injury.
