Flaco López has agreed a new Palmeiras contract running to the end of 2030, according to Nosso Palestra. The Argentine striker extends his stay during a campaign in which he has led the club’s scoring.

Since joining in 2022, López has played 225 games and scored 78 goals. In 2026 he has 45 appearances and 21 goals, the best return in the squad.

His tally places him third among Palmeiras scorers this century, behind Raphael Veiga on 109 and Dudu on 88. He has won the Campeonato Paulista in 2023, 2024 and 2026, the Brasileirão in 2022 and 2023, and the 2023 Supercopa do Brasil.

López also reached the last World Cup final with Argentina. He said he was delighted with the renewal, grateful for the bond built at the club, embraced Abel Ferreira’s Family Palmeiras mantra, and added that he hoped more good things would happen.

His connection with supporters has grown, particularly among children who copy his JL celebration, a nod to his initials. He said the affection from youngsters surprised him and called it priceless, adding that making them a little happier is a major reward.

To mark the renewal, Palmeiras arranged a session in which he was quizzed by 13 children selected via the Avanti members’ programme, the club’s academy and Palmeiras International. Among Argentinians to play for the club, he already leads for titles, appearances and victories, with 127 wins, and is second for goals behind Echerravieta, who scored 113.
