Flamengo have announced the signing of Anthony Valencia, making the 23-year-old their first addition of the window on a contract through 2031.

The right winger joins for 5 million euros, around R$ 30 million, adding a young option to the attack under Leonardo Jardim.

Valencia arrives from Royal Antwerp in Belgium, where he played 84 matches, scoring 13 goals and supplying four assists.

Flamengo recently sold Gonzalo Plata to Dinamo Moscow for 12 million euros, equivalent to R$ 72.1 million, and used part of that income to bolster the front line. Valencia has been recruited to cover the vacancy left by his compatriot, although staff view him as a medium-term project given the need to adapt to Brazilian football.

Registration is up against a tight Conmebol deadline, with Flamengo facing Independiente del Valle of Ecuador in the Libertadores quarter-finals. The squad list must be filed by Friday the fourth, so the club are racing to complete paperwork. There is no guarantee he will debut in the continental competition.

His arrival increases competition on the right flank alongside Luiz Araújo, and supporters are already eyeing his debut. The board are backing a player with recent European experience to broaden options during a congested schedule.
