According to Coluna Do Fla, Flamengo were offered DR Congo World Cup striker Simon Banza, but the club have shown no interest as his profile is seen as closer to Bruno Henrique than Pedro.

Banza, 30, is with Al Jazira in the UAE. At the last World Cup he made two appearances for DR Congo, recording no goals or assists.

He played 23 matches and scored nine goals for Al Jazira last season. His career includes Lens, Avenir Béziers, Titus Pétange, Famalicão, Braga and Trabzonspor in Türkiye, where in 2024/25 he posted 22 goals and six assists in 27 games.

Flamengo want a centre forward to share minutes with Pedro. After pursuing high-profile options such as Thiago Almada and Luiz Henrique, they could now turn to less familiar names, monitoring young players in Argentina with resale potential. No negotiations are under way.

The transfer window closes on 11 September. The Libertadores quarter-final registration deadline falls earlier in the same week, and Flamengo are set to face Independiente del Valle between 8 and 10 September, with dates to be set by Conmebol.
