Eight Flamengo organised supporter groups have issued a joint statement criticising head coach Leonardo Jardim and football director José Boto, heightening tensions with the club.

The groups said in a statement that, while they recognise recent achievements and the squad’s quality, silence is not an option. They placed direct responsibility for the rest of the season on Jardim and Boto and urged the president to act against passivity, fear, weakness and apathy.

The note was signed by Raça Rubro-Negra, Fla Manguaça, Império Rubro-Negro, Torcida Jovem do Flamengo, Falange Rubro-Negra, Urubuzada, Nação 12 and Fla Roots.

The manifesto followed two consecutive Brasileirão draws that allowed Palmeiras to open an eight-point lead over second-placed Flamengo. River Plate beat Flamengo in the race to sign Thiago Almada.

Five months on, the board still face criticism for dismissing Filipe Luís, a multiple-title winner as coach in 2025.

The groups now want the president to take similar steps with those they view as responsible for the team’s displays. Jardim has been in post for five months.

Flamengo host Vitória in the 22nd round at the Maracanã on Sunday, kick-off 19:30 Brasília time, with SporTV and Premiere broadcasting.
