Former Liverpool midfielder Arthur Melo has become a free agent after Juventus agreed to terminate his contract by mutual consent.

The 30-year-old joined Juventus from Barcelona in 2020 in a deal worth around €80 million, but struggled to establish himself in Turin and spent much of his time away from the club on loan.

Arthur had a brief spell at Liverpool during the 2022/23 season, making just one appearance before returning to Juventus. He later enjoyed a more productive campaign with Fiorentina, featuring 48 times in 2023/24, before subsequent loan spells with Girona and former club Grêmio.

Despite impressing during his return to Brazil, Arthur was unable to secure a permanent deal with Grêmio and returned to Juventus this summer.

With the midfielder no longer part of the club’s plans and earning significant wages, both parties agreed to end his contract a year early.

Arthur is now attracting interest from Brazilian clubs including Fluminense and Corinthians, as well as teams in Saudi Arabia. However, his salary could prove a major obstacle, with a significant pay cut likely required for a return to Brazil.
