Sint-Truiden have announced that veteran striker Shinji Okazaki will retire from football at the end of the season. The 37-year-old has only made five appearances for the side this season, with injuries having limited his game time. The forward joined the Canaries back in the summer of 2022 and has scored two goals in 39 appearances for the club.
Okazaki will hang his boots up after a successful career that has seen him play in Japan, Germany, England, Spain and now Belgium. He started out at Shimmizu S-Pulse before joining VfB Stuttgart in 2011. He played 85 games for the side and scored 13 goals in a season and a half. Following this, he joined Mainz in the summer of 2013 and scored 29 goals in two seasons.
Leicester then signed him in 2015, with Okazaki being part of the incredible side that defied the odds to win the Premier League. He left the English club in 2019 having made 137 appearances and scored 19 goals. He then played for both SD Huesca and Cartagena before ending up in Belgium.
