Leicester have appointed James McCarron from the City Group as sporting director in a leadership restructure, with the former Lommel executive to join at the end of the month, according to BBC UK.
The role is newly created.
McCarron attended Saturday's 2-0 defeat by Norwich, which left Leicester third from bottom of the Championship. Fans protested before kick-off and the Foxes are winless in nine league games.
He previously worked at Sunderland as head of performance and at the Premier League as elite performance manager. From 2021 to 2025 he was sporting director at Belgian side Lommel, within Manchester City's owners' umbrella.
He will oversee men's performance and player trading, reporting to director of football Jon Rudkin, who becomes chief football officer.
Finance director Kevin Davies has been named chief executive after Susan Whelan's October exit. He joined in 2023, has been credited with steadying the club, represented the club in PSR hearings, and his work is believed to have reduced the penalty.
Leicester were docked six points last month for financial breaches and have appealed, the punishment leaving them a point from safety. The chairman said the restructure aims to meet modern demands, praising Davies as a stabilising force and highlighting Rudkin's complementary knowledge. The club's PSR concerns should be over once the appeal outcome is known.
