The club said in a statement that James McCarron will become sporting director and Kevin Davies has been promoted to chief executive. The restructure sets a new leadership model at the King Power Stadium.
Trailed last year as City sought to halt their slide, the reshuffle has now been confirmed. City plan a clear split between football and business operations.
McCarron joins from City Football Group, where he was director of player development, and previously worked as sporting director at Lommel. He starts at the end of March and will report to Jon Rudkin, now chief football officer.
Focused on the men’s team, McCarron will lead performance, analysis, player development and recruitment, taking on decisions previously made by Rudkin. He will shape City’s football philosophy, reflected in managerial choices and squad building.
Davies steps up from finance director, succeeding Susan Whelan, who left last autumn after 14 years. He took the finance role in May 2023, with City’s PSR deduction later reduced from seven to six points.
Rudkin now has executive oversight of the men’s and women’s teams and reports to the board. Russell Jones arrives as commercial director from Wolves, while Martyn Glover remains head of recruitment under McCarron.
Manager Gary Rowett stays in charge until the end of the season, with McCarron involved in any decision on his future or successor. Interim managing director Kamonthip 'Monica' Netthanomsak continues to oversee commercial and operational matters, and City will recruit a new finance director.
