Fortuna Sittard rise to 11th as Brittijn strikes late | OneFootball

Fortuna Sittard beat AZ 4-3 at the Fortuna Sittard Stadion, climbing from 14th to 11th in the Eredivisie thanks to Philip Brittijn's late winner.

In the ninth minute, Justin Lonwijk glanced in from close range after Mohammed Ihattaren's corner. Troy Parrott levelled (19.) and Sven Mijnans put AZ ahead (21.), before Kaj Sierhuis swept in the equaliser (42.).

After the restart, Weslley Patati won a penalty for the visitors, but Mattijs Branderhorst saved from Mijnans (51.). Sierhuis then restored the lead with a low finish from Ivo Pinto's cross (54.).

Parrott struck the post (71.) before Mees de Wit tapped in the rebound to make it three all (71.). Moments later, Danny Buijs freshened the hosts with a double change as Justin Hubner and Paul Gladon came on (72.).

Brittijn forced in the decisive fourth from an Ihattaren corner (86.). In the ninth minute of second half stoppage time, VAR decided no penalty for the visitors.

AZ had 65.8% possession and registered 21 attempts, nine on target. Fortuna Sittard produced 15 attempts with six on target and won 61.9% of duels.
