Fantasy Premier League managers were left fuming after Dominic Calvert-Lewin was finally awarded a contentious goal following a Leeds United appeal.

Leeds United beat Newcastle United 4-1 on Monday at Elland Road. In the 34th minute James Justin whipped in a cross and Calvert-Lewin headed towards goal, but the Goal Accreditation Panel initially credited the strike to Jayden Bogle. A secondary panel of three independent experts reviewed multiple angles and overturned the call, reassigning the goal to Calvert-Lewin and giving Justin the assist. The forward’s tally moved to four goals in six appearances in all competitions.

FPL does not recalculate manager totals once a gameweek closes, which happened early Tuesday. Had changes been applied, Calvert-Lewin would have risen from 10 to 12 points and Justin from 2 to 5, while Bogle would have fallen from 15 to 7. Calvert-Lewin is selected by 23.4 per cent of managers, compared with Bogle’s 4.2 per cent.

Supporters vented on X, calling the scoring framework outdated and urging administrators to correct the points retrospectively. Some said they did not even own Calvert-Lewin yet still saw the situation as farcical.

Leeds and Calvert-Lewin have the right name on the official scoresheet, but many fantasy managers feel short-changed by the timing of the ruling.
