France have released Dayot Upamecano back to Bayern after his dismissal against Italy, leaving him suspended for next Monday’s Nations League meeting with Belgium.

The federation announced that the 27-year-old departed the national team camp at 9:30am on Saturday.

Upamecano was shown a second yellow for a tussle with Moise Kean late in the 1-1 draw with the Azzurri.

He had been rested by coach Zinedine Zidane in the first leg against the Red Devils, but featured against both Türkiye and Italy.

Vincent Kompany will probably welcome the centre-half’s early return, with a busy schedule ahead for the Bavarians.
