According to Glorioso 1904, Francisco Neto is set to leave Benfica on a permanent basis after failing to convince Marco Silva for 2026/27.
The left-footed winger is not in the head coach’s plans for the new season and, like full-back Tiago Parente, will not be retained for the first team picture.
Benfica’s hierarchy believe he needs a different environment to continue his development, and they are already working to find the best solution for the player.
Last season he made 28 appearances, 18 for the B team and 10 for the under-23s, scoring seven goals with two assists.
The decision comes as the club reshapes its academy and B team structure, opening space for emerging talent and reducing players without realistic first-team pathways.
The SAD led by Rui Costa believes a move could help Neto’s growth, while it continues to pursue an outcome acceptable to all parties.
