Frank McCourt has injected a further €120 million into Marseille this year to plug losses, with the club in austerity mode and the owner no longer intent on lavish spending.

According to L'Équipe, the Bostonian has already committed about €120 million since January, split into €50 million in February and €70 million in July.

His entourage declined to discuss that sequencing, but confirmed the overall figure.

Last summer he injected €94.5 million into the club.
