Inter Milan midfielder Davide Frattesi is set to join Lazio on loan, with his arrival in Formello considered imminent after swift talks this week.

Fabrizio Romano has given the move his trademark 'here we go'. Sky Sport Italia's Gianluca Di Marzio says Frattesi is expected in the capital on Friday for a medical, with a contract to follow later that day if all goes to plan.

Inter will loan the 26-year-old to Lazio for one million euros with an option to buy for a further 14 million euros. The option would become an obligation if set conditions are met, namely an appearance threshold and a top-half finish in Serie A, and the Italian champions retain a 50% sell-on.

The two clubs have been in constant contact since Tuesday, and the player has pushed for a return to his original club. Frattesi has been frustrated by limited minutes since joining the Nerazzurri in summer 2023, slipping further down the pecking order last season under Cristian Chivu.

It remains unclear whether he will be included in the matchday squad on Sunday, when Gennaro Gattuso's side host Mantova at the Stadio Olimpico in the Coppa Italia opener.
